Tester brief

Help make robot combat feel earned

Robot Rivals is not public yet. This brief is for people who want to follow the prototype, apply for a future test wave, and give useful feedback when the first combat sessions open.

Who we want first

The first 100 active playtesters should care more about combat feel than polish. If you can explain what felt fun, broken, unfair, or confusing, you are the right kind of early tester.

Robot combat fans

People who can tell when a hit, flip, pin, or recovery looked earned instead of random.

Physics game players

Players who enjoy messy systems, readable chaos, funny failures, and builds that become stories.

Rough-build testers

People who can handle unfinished UI, missing polish, and short focused test sessions.

First test priorities

The first weekend opens when Discord reaches 1,000 genuine members. The build should answer narrow questions before it tries to be everything.

Hit readability

  • Can players tell which part caused the hit?
  • Does armor or module damage change the fight clearly?
  • Do big impacts feel heavy without becoming unreadable?

Control after damage

  • Does a damaged robot still feel controllable enough to outplay?
  • Can driving, recovery, and angle beat raw weapon power?
  • Are flippers, wedges, and pushers satisfying without fake drama?

Arena pressure

  • Do hazards create openings instead of stealing every match?
  • Is positioning readable in the middle of chaos?
  • Do close wins feel earned enough to run back?

How to help now

There is no public download today. The best action is to apply, join Discord, and answer the combat-feel prompts so the first test wave has sharper priorities.
